SMS pricing is where store owners get surprised: monthly minimums, carrier fees, and the fact that one long text can be billed as two messages. Here’s what each option costs per US message, from each vendor’s own pricing page (checked October 20, 2026).

1. Omnisend – best if you want email and SMS in one tool

Omnisend runs email, SMS and web push in the same automation builder, so an abandoned-cart flow can send an email first and a text later. SMS is pay-as-you-go on every plan, with published US rates falling from $0.009 to $0.007 per message as you buy more credits. On Pro (from $59/month), you get bonus SMS credits equal to your monthly bill. Support is 24/7 on every plan.

2. Postscript – best SMS-first platform

Postscript is built specifically for Shopify text marketing and is rated 4.6/5 from 1,205 reviews on the Shopify App Store. Pricing is transparent: the Starter plan has no monthly fee but a $49 minimum spend, then $0.009 per SMS; larger plans lower the per-message rate in exchange for a monthly fee. Carrier fees are added on top, and plans start with a 30-day trial and a $100 credit. It’s the stronger choice when SMS is a main revenue channel.

Postscript

Pros
  • Built for Shopify SMS
  • Clear per-message pricing
  • 30-day trial with $100 credit

3. Klaviyo SMS – best if you already use Klaviyo

If Klaviyo runs your email, adding SMS keeps everything in one profile. Texts are billed per send from $0.01 plus carrier fees, and the free plan includes $5 of mobile messages a month to try it.

4. Shopify Messaging – simplest setup

Shopify’s own app sends SMS at $0.012 per US message, billed on your Shopify invoice. Watch the extras: each approved toll-free number costs $2.15 a month, and automated messages such as subscription confirmations are billed too. Good for testing SMS; dedicated tools are cheaper per message at volume.

Tips to keep SMS costs down

  • Keep messages short – a text that splits into two segments is billed twice.
  • Use SMS for high-intent moments (abandoned cart, shipping updates, VIP offers), not every campaign.
  • Only text people who explicitly opted in to SMS – it’s required, and it keeps unsubscribes low.
